West Galveston Bay Fishing Report

FAIR. 68 degrees. Speckled trout are scattered along the south shoreline. Deep structure holding some redfish and black drum and the occasional trout. Anglers drifting open bay reefs with soft plastics catching fair numbers of trout, bigger fish being caught by those wading the shorelines

FAIR. 66 degrees. When conditions permit, San Luis Pass is producing catches of black drum, sheepshead, and redfish. Waders finding speckled trout along the shorelines. Those drifting the open bay reefs are finding scattered trout and redfish on soft plastics and live shrimp

FAIR. 66 degrees. Better number of speckled trout being caught by waders. Lower west end of the bay seeing improved catches of redfish, black drum and sheepshead. Best action on artificial lures and live shrimp

FAIR. 58 degrees. Fair action on speckled trout, along with the occasional redfish. Best action on artificial lures

SLOW. 58 degrees. Speckled trout, with a few redfish, are best fishing deeper shell drop offs using soft plastics and hard baits

SLOW. 56 degrees. Fishing has been slow, although the water remains in good shape in the middle of the bay. Tides are low, but once they come back up, look for the fishing to pick up

FAIR. 52 degrees. Post freeze fishing was good. A few anglers caught some really nice trout, while others struggled to catch fish of any size. Traditional Winter spots seemed to be the best, like Offatts Bayou, Chocolate Bayou, and the Diversionary Canal
